10.05.2024: Austin, TX - LLano, TX - Brady, TX (160 miles)
Rating:
The air mass today seems favorable for some more storms. We head towards the Llano area
in hope to find some interesting stones and minerals. On arrival, there is already a
warned thunderstorm around. It roars and rumbles in the distance. But our main target today is the Llano river bed: It is an Eldorado for rockhounds. My storm chase and everything else companion Cleo in her element: You can find, amonst other things, Llanite, which is pretty unique on the planet. Or there are quarz crystals or even arrow heads, if you look closely: Another thunderstorm is closing in on the area, but we keep looking and digging: Our finds today: After the rock haunt, a third thunderstorm is approaching from the west, what a beauty! Even as we leave the area and head northwest, the storms just keep coming our way: Todays storms are mostly sub-severe, but we love every single one of them! We are in our element, which gives this day easily a 3-star rating: |
