A sunny day awaits us in Wichita Falls. We don't think that we can accept that yet. Therefore we
check the models and SPC-forecasts for areas with less sun. There is a possibility for storms over
Oklahoma later today. This area is reachable from here, so we head out and drive north into a large
field of cumulus clouds. Here is the situation in Chandler, Oklahoma: One of these towers grows into a mature storm near Bristow  We stay ahead of this storm cloud by driving south-east towards the small town of Slick and beyond:  A really beautiful storm structure:   This is the situation in Beggs, where we stop and position ourselves under a roof with picnic tables and enjoy a full hit:   Video of a deluge of water raining down on this town and leading to flash flood: After this storm passes, we head back west towards another thunderstorm over Chandler:  We core-punch it and document the same storm from the opposite side:  Shortly before that core-punch, Cleo catches this beauty right in front of us, wow!  Wonderful evening colors at sunset:  A last storm encountered near Meeker, before we head back home. An amazing weather day with tons of action just how we love it!  |
